Ko Wai Au Art

Room 7 have just completed our Ko Wai Au learning model which was also focussed on the visual arts. For our action, we all created artwork which represents who we are as individuals. We are very proud of the artwork we were able to produce and display for our whanau to see in our classroom.

Mrs Tofa’s words of encouragement to Room 7

On Friday 8 March, Room 7 hosted our Glenbrae School Assembly. We had presentations of our learning such as the New Zealand leaders presentation where our class members shared their learning about  Dame Whina Cooper, Sir Peter Blake and Sir Edmund Hillary. We also had some students present their Ko Wai Tatou statements as part of our inquiry work.

Mrs Tofa had a surprise presentation and it was this movie which she created for our class.

Room 7 2024 begins

Today was our first day of school. We had 21 very eager and happy learners return to school today. They also found out that they are in Room 7 for this year.

We started the day with Mrs Tofa introducing herself to the class then each member of the class had to share something about themselves to the class. We learnt about favourite colours, favourite food, favourite sports and many other interesting facts about our class members today.

We also went outside in the morning for fitness and of course we had to play our favourite game of Invincible Touch. After fitness, we came back to class and started desining our name labels for our trays. The name labels are so unique and add vibrancy to the colours in our classroom (way better than Mrs Tofa’s sticker labels).

Middle block, we worked on a maths problem and it was a bit of a challenge to push the brain after a six week holiday but we got there in the end. Our connect today involved Mrs Tofa teaching us some strategies we will need for further problems to solve.

We are so fortunate to have school lunches and today, our lunches were LOADED WEDGES. They were delicious. It had bacon, melted, cheese, wedges and brocolli. Amazing!

In the afternoon, we started our novel called 928 Miles to Home. We have only read a few pages but we hope it will be a good read. The blurb cetainly looks promising. After novel, we did a KWL chart about the Treaty of Waitangi. Our sharing back was good because some facts were shared that some of us didn’t know and then some questions were asked which will research.

Business proposal by Ezra

Ezra presented his proposal to our class with such enthusiasm. He really is trying to make this proposal come to life as he is wanting to start saving some money. He has through about many components such as materials, dangers, regulations about when he can mow lawns.

Are you my author

Did you ever think Matilda Wormwood would go to school in Glen Innes? Or did you ever think Auggie from Wonder made his way to Glenbrae school? Here’s a great question for you. Did you ever think your school work would haunt your dreams? Well watch our movie and find out more.
